Job Description

The Role

As Assistant Manager, IT Projects and Operations, you will manage IT initiatives from concept to completion, oversee IT service delivery, and collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure strategic alignment. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our IT services running smoothly and continually improving processes based on best practices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of IT projects across Oceania, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors, maintaining strong stakeholder communication.
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, and helpdesk services, acting as escalation contact.
  • Manage third-party vendor contracts and evaluate hardware/software needs.
  • Align IT services with Mitsui’s global and regional IT strategies and policies.
  • Establish and maintain IT service management processes following ITIL best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and user satisfaction.
  • Deliver IT training and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote digital transformation.
  • Provide timely support and guidance to staff on IT policies, procedures, and security.

Desired Skills and Experience

The Person

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented IT professional with strong experience in project delivery, service management, and operational support within a medium to large enterprise environment. They are highly skilled in stakeholder communication, vendor management, and driving continuous improvement, with a passion for aligning IT solutions to business strategy.

You will also possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Formal qualifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP or PRINCE2) highly desirable.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in IT project and service management within medium to large enterprises.
  • Strong operational IT background and familiarity with Microsoft 365, Cloud environments, networking, and telecommunication systems.
  • High-level documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • A proactive, self-motivated team player with outstanding time management and customer service focus.
  • Quarterly interstate travel and occasional international travel required.
