Job Description

The Role

Our Human Resources Division is seeking an Expatriate and Payroll Coordinator to manage the administrative duties associated with the employment, relocation, and welfare of Mitsui’s expatriate members in Australia. This role will also work alongside our payroll function and will be involved in payroll administration and support. They will deliver an excellent employee experience for all our expatriates and support to our payroll team by:

  • Advising and assisting expatriates with preparing for their arrival or return to Japan.
  • Actioning all onboarding and offboarding administration tasks for new expatriates arriving to Australia.
  • Processing day to day expense payments and reimbursements relating to expatriates’ relocation.
  • Processing payment to payroll provider for monthly shadow payroll.
  • Processing payment and claim of individual settlement of Tax Return (via Accounting firm) to all divisions and subsidiaries.
  • Managing relevant memberships, loan records, and databases, as necessary.
  • Assisting with managing and processing local and expat payroll, processing payments, and assisting with the internal and external EOFY processes.
  • Maintained records, providing assistance with payroll related queries, and processing salary changes.

Desired Skills and Experience

The Person

As a skilled administrator, you are flexible and organised. You manage your time effectively and feel comfortable in taking on new challenges. You will also possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Fluent English and Japanese language skills including reading, writing, speaking is required.
  • An understanding of Japanese business culture and etiquette.
  • Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisation skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Access, etc.
  • A tertiary-level qualification is preferred but not essential.
