Job Description

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trading Coordinator to join our Chemicals Division, based in the Melbourne Head Office on a permanent full-time basis. This pivotal role involves facilitating contract negotiations, managing trading activities, and handling customer inquiries. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of contracts. 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Trading, Shipping, and Market Development: Negotiate and finalize contracts, address customer inquiries, confirm product availability and pricing, resolve issues including insurance claims, adjust shipping schedules, coordinate import clearance and delivery, track deliveries and manage charges, provide samples, update product info, and assist with market analysis.

Stock Operations & Administration: Oversee stock forecasts, costing, and pricing, assist with stock ordering, monitor shipments and clearance, reconcile stock levels, generate reports, and liaise with customers and suppliers for offers and pricing.

Contract Administration: Maintain spreadsheets for contracts and costs, issue and file contracts, manage records, process payments, issue invoices, dispatch shipping documents, and compile manufacturer’s data.

Risk Management: Manage currency and payment term risks, handle trade control applications, assess new business, apply for and renew credit lines, monitor credit limits, and ensure timely payment collection.

Business Administration: File shipping and business documents, prepare financial statements and stock reports, report currency positions and profits, arrange international travel, and manage additional business reports.

About You

We are seeking a proactive professional with strong commercial experience in trading, importing, and exporting. Your background includes significant exposure to contract negotiation and administration. You possess excellent communication and negotiation skills and are adept at managing multiple tasks, with a keen eye for detail. Your ability to work affectively with internal and external stakeholders will ensure you excel in this role.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification or part qualification in International Trade or a relevant business discipline.
  • Completion of a Business Administration course and/or an import/export course is preferred.  

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven commercial experience in trading, importing, and exporting activities is essential. 
  • A good understanding of SAP ECC is essential
  • Administration experience supporting management, or a team is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade and shipping terminologies.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, with demonstrated negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer and organizational skills
  • Basic accounting knowledge and familiarity with accounting concepts.
